Velaiilla Pattadhari The name Velaiilla Pattadhari comes from two words- velai meaning "veil" and pattadhar meaning "attachment". The story is set in the heart of Chennai, where the protagonist Velu (Naga Chaitanya) lives with his widowed dad. He falls for Nirupama (Akshara Haasan), daughter of a rich industrialist Manohar Sir (Suman). His father gives him permission to marry Nirupama but her dad refuses this alliance because they are not rich enough. But Velu gets introduced to Sir's business partner Sharath Sir who is much impressed by his knowledge and ambition. He offers him a deal to become his son-in-law. The story then goes on with the twists and turns in the life of Velu and Sharath Sir, who both have been scheming to get their children married to each other. Finally, the day comes when all their dreams becomes a reality. Music composed by V Anand Soundtrack released on Aditya Music Company The film was a commercial success at the box office. The film had grossed at Tamil Nadu Box Office India around 8 million. This is the highest grossing film of Naga Chaitanya. According to Behindwoods review board, Velaiilla Pattadhari's basic story is about how an ordinary man becomes a crook to achieve his goal. While the film progresses well in its first half, the narration ends up taking a dramatic turn and making way for unnecessary drama. The climax is also too abrupt and doesn't make sense at all. The background score and songs by Santhosh Narayanan, V Anand and Nellaiyaraja work well and creates an entertaining environ for the actors and technicians.The film was released in 200 screens worldwide. The film released in 1450 screens in Tamil Nadu. It was released on 124 screens in USA, Canada, UK, Fiji, Australia & New Zealand markets respectively. The film took a good opening but was unable to sustain its growth later on. The film did average business at the box office with a starting week collection of 4 crore at Chennai alone which is considered respectable considering its star cast. Its Telugu version "Nee Jathaga Nenundali" also had similar fate. The film was remade in Telugu as "Nee Jathaga Nenundali", which featured Naga Chaitanya reprising his role, while Nayantara reprised her role as Nirupama Rajeev. The rest of the cast remained same. The Telugu version was also received well by critics and audience alike, with praise being given to the performances, direction and humor.
